WeatherSource Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 August 2026
WeatherSource provides local weather forecasts, forecast-confidence information, practical Today Ahead guidance, saved world cities and Home Screen widgets.
Location information
WeatherSource may request access to your precise or approximate location so it can provide weather information for your current area.
Location access is optional and controlled through iOS. You can change or withdraw permission at any time in Settings on your device.
Weather providers
To provide forecasts, WeatherSource may send location coordinates and related weather requests to authorised weather services, including Apple Weather and MET Norway.
These providers process requests according to their own privacy policies and service terms. A provider may retain technical information associated with a request, such as an IP address and requested coordinates, in its operational access logs.
How information is used
Location information is used only for app functionality, including:
- providing current local weather and forecasts;
- calculating forecast-confidence information;
- providing Today Ahead guidance;
- updating WeatherSource widgets; and
- displaying appropriate local day and night presentation.
Saved cities and preferences
Saved cities, widget selections and app preferences are stored locally on your device and within the app’s shared Apple App Group container so the main app and its widgets can access the same information.
Advertising, analytics and tracking
WeatherSource does not contain advertising, does not use advertising identifiers, does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and does not use your information to track you across apps or websites.
User accounts
WeatherSource does not require an account and does not collect your name, email address, phone number or payment details through the app.
Data sharing
WeatherSource does not sell personal information. Information is shared with weather providers only as necessary to obtain weather data and operate the app’s weather features.
Children
WeatherSource is a general-audience weather utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You can disable location access through iOS Settings. Some local-weather features may not work correctly without location access.
You can remove saved cities and preferences from within the app or by deleting the app from your device.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when WeatherSource features or data practices change. The latest version will always be available on this page.
